Administrative Law is mainly the field of law that governs the structure and functioning of the public service and the state in general and also the relations created between the state who is enforcing its decisions on one hand and the individuals, who are forced to oblige to these decisions on the other. The interaction of these two conflicting rights can lead to disputes.

Administrative Law is considered to be a part of the more general field of public law and is broken into several interrelated sections such as: Constitutional law, Human Rights, Administrative Rules and Regulations etc.

It is very obvious from the above that the field of Administrative Law in general is the one that provides the adequate safeguards and remedies to the citizen and / or individual against the decisions and / or actions of the state, that affect their rights and not so rarely against the abuse of power by the authorities.

The Administrative Law of Cyprus is mainly modelled on the Continental Legal System with some influence from the Common Law.

The Supreme Court of Cyprus acts, with a different composition both as an Administrative Court of first instance and also as an Appellate Administrative Court.

COSTAS TSIRIDES & CO LLC has a long and successful experience in the field. As the legal advisors to a number of government agencies and bodies and also municipalities, we provide our expertise from the state of the formation of decisions to the representation of our clients in the Supreme Court, defending our clients against the recourses filed by individuals. In the field of Administrative Law it is of the outmost importance that the client acts immediately against any government decision affecting his / her rights, as there is a limitation period of 75 days, beginning from the day that the relevant decision and / or act was served to them. After the lapse of this limitation period, the individual can take no legal actions against any such decision and / or act, as this becomes final and irrevocable.
